Late last year Hexion joined the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) ENERGY STAR program as a partner. By doing so we made a fundamental commitment to protecting the environment through the continuous improvement of the energy performance of our facilities and operations.
Late last year, Hexion joined the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) ENERGY STAR program as a partner. By doing so we made a fundamental commitment to protecting the environment through the continuous improvement of the energy performance of our facilities and operations.
In 2019, Hexion created a team and program to manage improvements in all areas of the business called GO-PRO (Global Operations Productivity Program). This is a cross-functional team of subject matter experts focused on identifying opportunities, resourcing projects and supporting teams executing improvement projects. Becoming a partner in the ENERGY STAR program compliments this effort, providing access to the best practices and state of the art techniques of a well proven program to increase and accelerate improvement in our energy efficiency.
We continue to identify improvements that are adding up to big results. Some projects that are currently funded and under implementation include:
- Boiler and steam system upgrades at one facility that will reduce natural gas consumption by 30%;
- A facility’s process cooling systems are being upgraded to reduce water consumption by over 60%; and
- Modifying a plant process to reduce facility electrical consumption by over 20%.
