Hexion offers two advanced resin platforms for producing lighter weight automotive composite components super-efficiently, without sacrificing performance.

 

Epoxy resin solutions up to 70% lighter than steel:

  • Super-fast curing EPIKOTE™ TRAC 06170 Resin-based RTM systems with HELOXY™ Additive TRAC 06805 release agent for mass production of structural parts such as frame parts, chassis parts, floor panels, firewalls, etc.
  • EPIKOTE™ TRAC 06300 series for exterior composite parts such as roof tops, hoods, door panels and pillars, including clear coated and color painted surfaces
  • A range of systems supporting multiple production techniques for leaf spring suspensions and gas tank parts
  • Preform binders that enable faster resin injection

Bakelite® phenolic resins engineered 30-40% lighter than aluminum:

  • Very high heat tolerances to withstand the increased under-the-hood operating temperatures resulting from powertrain downsizing
  • Complex, high-precision shapes are possible
  • Excellent mechanical strength
  • Excellent resistance to fuel and other automotive chemicals
  • Useful for manufacturing vacuum pump parts, pulleys, brake pistons, carbon brush holders, fuel pump impellers and housings, etc.
