Rail composite parts need to be fire-resistant, easy to process and tough. Hexion resin systems are designed to give rail composite parts a high degree of fire safety and excellent mechanical properties, and enable them to be manufactured with the latest, fastest processing techniques.
Our EPIKOTE™ epoxy resin systems are particularly suited for structural applications and can be used to manufacture parts that are both lighter than steel and extremely strong. EPIKOTE resin based components meet stringent rail safety standards (EN 45545-2 R1 hazardous level HL1). They can also be processed via infusion or resin transfer molding (RTM) with liquid resin to increase production cycle times.
We also offer Cellobond™ phenolic resin systems for manufacturing lightweight, extremely fire-resistant composites for interior applications. CELLOBOND phenolic based composites yield components 40 to 50 percent lighter than aluminum and can meet the most stringent rail fire safety standards EN 45545-2 R1 hazardous level HL3 and BS 6853 category 1A.
