Hexion Team Rides To End Cancer
In 2015, Hexion raised more than $51,000 during Pelotonia, a weekend-long cycling event that raises funds toward research to end cancer. This is Hexion’s third Pelotonia team.
Members of the team secured pledges for their ride from coworkers, friends and family. All funds raised through Pelotonia go directly to cancer research, as event costs are underwritten by funding partners. The Pelotonia event, the largest single-event cycling fundraiser in the United States, occurs in Columbus Ohio, headquarters for Hexion. The fundraiser has a motto of "One Goal: End Cancer," and 100 percent of donations go to cancer-fighting research at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - James Cancer Hospital and the Solove Research Institute.
Past Hexion riders have found the experience inspiring - a few of their comments are shared below:
"It was great riding and preparing with everyone and, as one person put it, "fun-raising." I really enjoyed the discussions that I had with friends and family; specifically, hearing about their experiences - both wins and losses - with cancer, and the excitement that they showed when supporting the cause.""The camaraderie with complete strangers was unexpected; I spent 20 minutes at the Columbus airport the next morning talking to a fellow rider about the weekend.""I was really moved by the man with the saying, "Thank you for saving my wife," along the route. I don't know if it was just the mental exhaustion of being at mile 80, but he and his wife being the personification of what our efforts were going toward really made me emotional as I rode by."
