  • Hexion’s Argo Facility Increases Steam Efficiency

     Argo Facility Steam Efficiency

A team for the Hexion facility in Bedford, in Argo, Ill., found inefficiency when steam heating isotainers (movable storage containers). To improve on the process the Steamrollers team designed a steam/condensate manifold that is a compact multi-port system that allows steaming of multiple isotainers at the same time. It also manages and directs condensate discharge to maximize heating BTUs, while reducing steam waste and freezing of condensate discharge as well as eliminating steam clouds in the immediate area. The design is portable and can be mounted on a skid/platform. The goal to reduce hazards and increase energy efficiency was achieved as well as an award for energy efficiency from the American Chemistry Council.
