    Oil & Gas

    Hexion’s formaldehyde is used in the making of everything from gas treatments to fuel additives. It’s also the base for triazine which is used to remove hydrogen sulfide from natural gas and oil. Formaldehyde is also used in phenolic resins for coating proppants and phenolic demulsifiers for oil treatment.




    The construction industry worldwide has relied on the use of formaldehyde-based chemistry like Hexion’s to enable the greater use of the wood in composite wood products. This not only leads to greater use of the wood, but helps create a stronger, more durable finished building material than using just wood alone. Formaldehyde can also be found in the adhesives, polymers and other materials in everything from cabinets to paint and insulation.

    Urea Formaldehyde Concentrate is commonly used in agriculture for both crop nutrition (fertilizers) and crop protection (herbicides).     Hexion’s formaldehyde is used in a variety of chemical intermediates where a desired process or reaction is needed. These applications vary from being a step in the chemical production process to the end product of a process and include everything from the production of biocides, amines and reagents to water treatments, electronics and rubber and tire production. Formaldehyde is also used as a crosslinker to create solutions and resins.
